The Roseland Children's Health Center provides health care services to children from birth through early adolescence when accompanied by their parent or guardian. Patient fees are determined on a sliding fee scale basis. Medi-Cal, CHDP, Healthy Families, California Kids, and Partnership Health Plan insurance programs are also accepted.

No child is ever turned away due to his/her family's inability to pay.

    Reach Out and Read

Emerging literacy is promoted at the CHC during each well-child visit for children ages 6 months to 6 years through the Reach Out and Read program. This nationwide program was started by Dr. Perry Klass in Boston and is endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Volunteers read children’s stories in the waiting room. At each physical exam, the health care provider discusses the importance of reading to children at home and gives the child an age-appropriate book to start his/her own library along with a "prescription" to read and an application for a library card. For more information about this nationwide program and how to start your own, visit the Reach Out and Read website at www.reachoutandread.org

    Immunization Outreach

A CHC Registered Nurse and Medical Assistant/Outreach Worker go to local schools or other community sites as requested to provide immunizations to children (with parental permission). These outreach clinics are advertised through school newsletters and families who need immunizations are encouraged to attend by the school nurse. Immunizations are provided free of charge. Those families who do not have a primary care provider or health insurance are also referred to local community clinics and given information on Healthy Families, California Kids, and/or Medi-Cal insurance programs.

This program is funded by a state immunization grant administered by the Redwood Coalition of Community Clinics. For more information call the Health Center at 578-2005 and ask for the immunization nurse. For more information about national immunization recommendations visit the Vaccines for Children website at www.cdc.gov/nip/vfc/.

    Health Insurance Outreach
    for Low Income Families

Families at the health center and local schools are encouraged to sign up for health insurance programs available at low cost or free of charge to low income children. These programs include Healthy Families, California Kids, Partnership Health Plan, CHDP, and Medi-Cal. Clinic staff and outreach workers are well versed in the various programs and provide information to families. Help with completing insurance applications is provided on-site by appointment. For more information, please call us at 578-2005. For more information about California Healthy Families insurance program visit their website at www.healthyfamilies.ca.gov or visit the Sonoma County Healthy Kids website at www.healthykidssonomacounty.org.

    Nutritional Services

Family nutrition counseling is provided by a bilingual nutritionist on-site by referral. Health care providers suggest nutrition referrals for children suffering from obesity, severe iron deficiency anemia, diabetes, or poor growth. Healthy nutrition guidelines are discussed at each well-child visit and written information (in English and Spanish) is readily available to families in our waiting room, exam rooms and Health Education Resource Room. For a referral for nutrition services, talk to your Nurse Practitioner or Pediatrician at the health center.

    Family Advocacy

The family advocate program is housed next door to the Health Center in the school-sponsored Family Resource Center. Case management and social service referrals are available to families from the Bellevue and Roseland School Districts, and Wright Elementary School, as well as families who receive care at the Roseland Children's Health Center. The five Family Advocates are bilingual in Spanish and English, and are a great help to families needing community resources in the areas of housing, health care, counseling services and legal assistance. They work closely with parents and school personnel to promote success for students at risk for school failure.
